How Antivirus Software Protects your Computer

New computers perform really well and alright at first use. As long as you safely browse trusted websites and use removable media from trusted sources, you shouldn't have any worries in getting any virus infections. Though lately, new viruses appear to be legitimate even though they are not. It may not be harmful to click on links until you notice heavy payload that makes you wish for an antivirus for protection.

Not every individual who uses computer allows antivirus software installation due to the belief that it can slow down their system during an antivirus scan. It simply means that you must know the importance of antivirus software for you to maximize its benefits.

When antivirus software is successfully installed, it automatically runs upon startup. These software should really run a scan even in the background to check the system for possible malicious activities. This is commonly referred to as "Real-time Protection" and serves as a first layer of security in virus prevention.

While the "Real-time protection" is activated and it detects a virus in the system, it will either clean or quarantine it depending on the detection type. Some virus scanners display a pop-up notification asking the user what action to take. Most antivirus software display a pop up window to notify the user about required action Notification windows indicate that your antivirus software provides proper level of system security.

The main virus scanner window can be brought by clicking on the icon found on the system tray or loading it via Start menu. From there, manual scans can be performed which could be necessary when multiple drives need to be scanned for viruses including any removable disks. Once the scan is complete, a detailed report about the infected files and types of viruses is shown to provide more information. Just like "Real-time protection", it is the user’s decision if the infected file will be deleted or not.

Some scanners have different kinds of scanning options with the "Quick Scan" being the most common and frequently used by novice computer users because of the speed and convenience. Although the way it works varies amongst virus scanners, most quick scans scan certain locations in the disk where common viruses are and automatically take the recommended action to deal with the virus to avoid user interaction.

Virus scanners cleansed the viruses but there are times that they are just moved into another location specifically for “Quarantine” files. Infected files stay on the quarantine folder which is a safe place for viruses and they are inaccessible until you bring it out of this quarantined area. This allows you to bring clean files that were mistakenly flagged as viruses (also known as "False Positives").

Good performing antivirus software in the market protects your computer by scanning it regularly as scheduled through the quick scan configuration. These aforementioned scanning features help in preventing the viruses and Trojans from invading the computer system as long as the virus definition are up-to-date through online updates.

The Best New Computer Games

Computers and laptops are still powerful gaming systems as long as the video card is of high quality and other requirements of the newest games are being met. The surge of new games being released each month prove that fact and some of the games that were recently released raised the bar in gaming in all sorts of different angles. Here are just some of the best new PC games of a variety of genres.

"Section 8" takes itself in the vast crowd of first person shooters and does not employ greater innovation on behalf of its class but  continues to be one among the best due to its interesting gameplay style of having several strong objectives, extreme combat action and team-spirited multiplayer options.

Real-time strategy games are also famous on computers and lately, Square Enix publicized a technically new game named “Order of War”. Similar to "Section 8", it does not focus on additional features to the usual real-time strategy  formula, though it stays to have a nice presentation and carry on the concept really well structuring it into an enthusiastic game. More RTS fans who admire World War II settings will like this game even more.

There are adventure games developed with the kids on focus such as "Mini Ninjas". "Mini Ninjas" is an adventure game with all kinds of different levels to explore without much fear of repetitiveness. The graphics and chronicles makes it possible to be virtually played by everyone. It isn't really a game purely for kids either as the stealth action gameplay makes it extremely fun for hardcore gamers to pick up.

Open-world adventure lovers will get hooked with "Red Faction: Guerrilla" which is more exciting because of interactive features. So many things in the game can be destroyed and the single player mode is lengthy and challenging. The audio, visuals, and connectivity make this one of the top games for the month of September.

Almost all of the Resident Evil games emerged on the PC and the newest installment – "Resident Evil 5" was introduced appearing to be competitive along with Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. It was based on "Resident Evil 4's" triumph and includes new horror scenes into the story which makes it a must-have for those who are fond of horrors and bloody experience.

The best game out of the list that was released long ago is "Batman: Arkham Asylum". This game is so good that you do not need to even be a batman fan to enjoy the title. This involves third-person action adventure along with very good story and many things to unlock keeping you busy all through out. Elements such as those together with magnificent range of visuals and sounds effects enable it to be a candidate as one of the most engaging games of the year.

There are sure to be more exciting games for the PC to be released before the year ends. Some of the anticipated titles to watch for are "Left 4 Dead 2" and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”. Just expect that these  forthcoming  games will raise the gaming bar higher than before.
